Artist's Statement

I have lived and worked in Pembrokeshire for ten years, during which time I have never really been concerned with the topographic particulars of its largely unspoilt landscape. The main inspiration instead for my painting has come from the elemental forms and shapes that I have found in the treeforms and grasses which I feel characterise the landscape that surrounds my home above Fishguard and which I find repeated in the broader landscape of the Preseli Hills and the coastline. This repetition has reinforced for me the inherent "sense of Place" that I hope to realise in my painting.
