From one St. Davids to the original...looking for locals

Post by junglous » Sun Jul 09, 2006 3:27 pm

Hello all, I am writing from my two towns of St. Davids (we dropped the apostrophe) in Radnor and Narberth in Pennsylvania, USA...I am thinking of visiting your St. David's and Narberth, etc. in Wales...perhaps this fall (things seem to close down there at the end of October??)...I've started looking at places to stay, specifically the B and Bs and Farms...they are expensive (25 pounds per person per night). I don't have any problem with them needing to make a living, but I just can't personally afford that. So I'm wondering if the locals know of any rooms for let, you know, in the homes of old ladies or farms that are not set up as B and Bs, but have the space and want to take a little cash to put two people up for a night or two.

I hope that if I continue to look into visiting that I can seek your local advice on where to go, whom to meet, etc. (I am a newspaper writer here, so it would lend itself to a fabulous article -- telling our residents to visit there, etc.) Do you all have a local newspaper? If so, does it have a web site? I'm going to look into that asap.

Well, thanks for reading and feel free to respond as you like. I hope to one day visit beautiful Wales...

Junglous..... You Bounder? Methinks not young man,

The reflections in your written word show that you do not indeed hail from Pensylvania!

Be safe!

Bounder? What is that?

Well, believe me, I would much rather be in St. Davids, Wales, but unfortunately I am in St. Davids, Pa. I could probably post a photo to prove it to you...Seriously, I just came upon this chat room in my travel research and thought it might be nice to do a little pen-pal bit with our friends across the sea, and to find out the real scoop on traveling there. I find asking the locals about a place is the best way to travel, no?

The Beast, your comments about hints in my writing intrigue me...Why do you know believe me? I have not written in the Queen's English, have I?
